Survival server glossary
Protection
- Claim
- Land marked as yours, protecting blocks from other players.
- Claim blocks
- The currency for claiming, usually earned per hour played.
- Trust
- Granting someone rights inside your claim. The most common cause of base loss.
- GriefPrevention
- The most widely used claim plugin.
/claim,/trust, golden shovel. - Towny
- A town-and-nation plugin with mayors, plots, taxes and daily upkeep.
- Rollback
- Staff reverting griefing from block logs, within the retention window.
- Claim expiry
- Automatic release of claims after inactivity. Ask the number of weeks.
The world
- RTP / wild
- Random teleport, to reach unclaimed terrain far from spawn.
- Resource world
- A separate mining map that resets periodically. Keeps ore available without wiping builds.
- World border
- The edge of the buildable map. Decides whether new land exists.
- Spawn radius
- The stripped, claimed area around spawn on an old world.
- Reset
- Wiping the map. Less common on survival than on skyblock or prison.
Economy
- Jobs
- A system paying you for ordinary actions like mining or farming.
- Sink
- Anything that removes money from the economy. Without sinks, prices inflate.
- Spread
- The gap between a shop's buy and sell price. What the economy runs on.
- AH
- Auction house. Player-to-player sales, usually with a listing fee or tax.
- Chest shop
- A player-run shop, usually a sign on a chest.
- Battlepass
- A seasonal reward track, commonly with a free and a paid tier.
Progression
- mcMMO
- The common skills plugin: levels in mining, herbalism, combat and more, with active abilities.
- Double drops
- The main mcMMO passive. Heavily tuned on well-run servers because it feeds the economy.
- Rank
- A tier bundling perks: homes, claim blocks, kits, cooldowns.
- Free rank
- A rank granted on first join rather than sold. Often
/freerank. - Kit
- A set of items claimable on a cooldown, usually rank-gated.
- Mission / daily
- A bounded objective with a fixed reward.
Server life
- Deadzone / PvP zone
- An area where PvP is enabled, usually with better loot as the incentive.
- Crossplay
- Java and Bedrock on one address, usually through a proxy.
- Keyall
- Staff granting a crate key to everyone online.
- AFK pool
- Somewhere players idle for rewards. Whether this is allowed varies.
- P2W
- Pay to win. The test is whether anything in the store is unobtainable in game.
